Alexander Ovechkin is fast emerging as one of the finest young talents in the NHL. The Washington Capitals used their first pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft to select Ovechkin and he has more than rewarded their confidence in him. In fact, on April 13, 2006, the Russian left-winger became only the second-ever rookie to score 50 goals and tally 100 or more points in a season, and ultimately finished his rookie season with 52 goals and 106 total points.
