After Carmelo Anthony led Syracuse to the National Championship in 2003, he promised his fellow students, at a pep rally, to celebrate the title in the Carrier Dome that he would stick around past his freshman season. Obviously the glitz and glamour of the NBA was too lucrative. In his first NBA season in 2003-04, Anthony scored 21 points per game, six rebounds and close to three assists per game as he shared the NBA Rookie of the Year award with LeBron James of the Cavaliers.
